Using Tablets & iPads as Court Signage
Tablets (such as Apple iPads or Samsung Galaxy Tabs) are ideal court-side displays for sports tournaments due to their compact size, battery power, and crisp high-resolution touchscreens.
Setting Up Apple iPads (iOS)
1. Enable Guided Access (Kiosk Mode)
- Go to Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access.
- Toggle Guided Access to ON and set a passcode.
- Open Safari and navigate to your target Space Display URL (
/r/[id]?space=[space_id]). - Triple-click the iPad Power / Home button to start Guided Access.
- Disables touch interaction and prevents players or passersby from closing the browser display.
Setting Up Android Tablets
1. Enable App Pinning
- Go to Settings → Security → App Pinning (or Pin Windows).
- Open Chrome with your Space Display URL open.
- Swipe up to Recents view → Tap Chrome app icon → Select Pin this app.
Mounting & Power Management
- Continuous Power: Connect tablets to power banks or wall chargers during long 8-hour tournament days.
- Auto-Lock Timeout: Set iPad Screen Lock to Never (Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → Never).
- Mounting Stands: Use heavy-duty tablet clamps or tripod mounts attached to court posts or scorer tables.
