Using Tablets & iPads as Court Signage

Tablets (such as Apple iPads or Samsung Galaxy Tabs) are ideal court-side displays for sports tournaments due to their compact size, battery power, and crisp high-resolution touchscreens.


Setting Up Apple iPads (iOS)

1. Enable Guided Access (Kiosk Mode)

  1. Go to SettingsAccessibilityGuided Access.
  2. Toggle Guided Access to ON and set a passcode.
  3. Open Safari and navigate to your target Space Display URL (/r/[id]?space=[space_id]).
  4. Triple-click the iPad Power / Home button to start Guided Access.
  5. Disables touch interaction and prevents players or passersby from closing the browser display.

Setting Up Android Tablets

1. Enable App Pinning

  1. Go to SettingsSecurityApp Pinning (or Pin Windows).
  2. Open Chrome with your Space Display URL open.
  3. Swipe up to Recents view → Tap Chrome app icon → Select Pin this app.

Mounting & Power Management

  • Continuous Power: Connect tablets to power banks or wall chargers during long 8-hour tournament days.
  • Auto-Lock Timeout: Set iPad Screen Lock to Never (Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → Never).
  • Mounting Stands: Use heavy-duty tablet clamps or tripod mounts attached to court posts or scorer tables.
